Your project is finished – the interiors look great, the elevation is just as the 3D showed. But if the photos are taken on a phone at noon with the lights off, the work will never look as good online as it does in person. Professional architecture and interior photography and videography is what turns a completed site into a portfolio that wins the next client. This guide explains what is included, how to prepare a space for a shoot, drone rules to know, and how SB Square Projects LLP in Pune can help.

1. Why professional visuals matter for architects, designers and builders
- Clients judge online first: most people check your website, Google Business Profile and Instagram before they call.
- Photos sell the design, not just the space: correct angles, straight vertical lines and balanced lighting show materials, proportions and detailing properly.
- Video shows flow and scale: a 60–90 second walkthrough explains a layout better than ten photos.
- One shoot, many uses: website, Google posts, Reels, brochures, award entries and tender or pre-qualification documents.
2. What a shoot can include
| Format | Best for | Where it is used |
|---|---|---|
| Architectural photography (exterior) | Elevations, facades, landscaping, day and dusk views | Portfolio, website, Google Business Profile, brochures |
| Interior photography | Living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, offices, design details | Designer portfolios, Instagram, award entries, listings |
| Walkthrough video | Showing flow and scale of a home, office or showroom | YouTube, Instagram Reels, client presentations |
| Drone / aerial | Large plots, bungalows, warehouses, layouts, site context | Real estate marketing, progress reports, land sale |
| Construction progress documentation | Stage-wise record of work on site | Client updates, billing support, project records |
3. How to prepare a space before the shoot
- Finish all snag work, clean glass, floors and fixtures, and remove packing material.
- Switch on all lights, check every bulb works and use the same colour temperature in a room.
- Declutter: remove personal items, cables, extra chairs and anything that distracts from the design.
- Style lightly: a few cushions, plants, books or tableware – not more.
- For exteriors, plan for good daylight or the evening “blue hour”, and keep vehicles and debris out of the frame.
- Share the drawings or a list of the key features you want highlighted.
4. Drone photography: rules to know in India
Aerial shots are very useful for bungalows, plots and warehouses, but drones are regulated under the Drone Rules, 2021. In short:
- Drones above 250 g (nano) must be registered with a Unique Identification Number (UIN) on the Digital Sky platform.
- Commercial flying of drones above the nano category generally needs a pilot with a Remote Pilot Certificate.
- Check the Digital Sky airspace map before every flight: green zones up to 400 ft need no prior permission, yellow zones need permission from air traffic control, and red zones are not allowed without Central Government approval.
- Areas near airports and defence establishments – and Pune has several – are often yellow or red zones, so some locations simply cannot be shot from the air.
Rules are updated from time to time, so we check the latest airspace map and permissions for your exact location before planning any aerial shoot.
5. Photography and videography services at SB Square Projects
Because we are architects and builders ourselves, we understand what a design is trying to show. Our photography and videography service covers:
- Architectural and interior photography for homes, offices, showrooms and commercial projects
- Real estate photos and videos for builders, developers and property owners
- Construction progress documentation from foundation to handover
- Drone / aerial photography and video, subject to airspace permissions
- Walkthrough, promotional and company profile videos
- Corporate events, inaugurations and site visits
We also work with fellow architects, interior designers and contractors who want professional visuals of their completed projects. See some of our work in the photography portfolio, or read our post on photography and videography trends for 2026.
Frequently asked questions
How long does an interior photo shoot take?
It depends on the size of the space and the number of rooms. A typical apartment usually takes a few hours on site, with editing done afterwards. We confirm timing after seeing the site and your shot list.
Can you shoot a project you did not design or build?
Yes. We photograph projects for other architects, interior designers, builders and property owners.
Do you provide edited files ready for Instagram and the website?
Yes. Images and videos are professionally edited for colour, clarity and straight lines, and delivered in high resolution, with web and social-media sizes on request.
